How to Take Your Measurements

Bust

Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape parallel to the floor. Do not pull too tight.

Waist

Measure around your natural waistline — the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the belly button.

Hips

Measure around the fullest part of your hips and bottom, keeping the tape parallel to the floor.

Understanding Women's Clothing Sizes

Women's clothing sizes vary significantly between countries, which can make online shopping from international retailers confusing. The UK uses a numeric system starting at size 6, while the US starts at size 0 or 2. European sizes follow a different numeric scale entirely, typically running from 34 to 52 for standard sizes.

It is important to note that sizing is not standardised across brands — a UK size 12 from one retailer may fit differently to a UK size 12 from another. This is why taking your own measurements in centimetres and comparing them to the brand's specific size guide is always the most reliable approach.

Italian sizing (used by many luxury fashion brands) adds 4 to the EU size, so a UK 10 / EU 38 becomes an Italian 42. French sizing traditionally matched EU sizing but some French brands use their own scale, so always check the individual brand's chart.

For petite, tall, and plus-size ranges, the numeric size may be the same but the proportions of the garment will differ. Petite ranges are cut for heights under 5'4" (163 cm), while tall ranges suit heights over 5'8" (173 cm). Always check the specific range's size guide when shopping across different body types.
